YOUR HEAD IN THE CLOUDS BUCKET LIST

By Chris Mae

88Rising is holding their popular Head in the Clouds festival in NYC this weekend at Forest Hills Stadium. With a strong lineup of artists like Rich Brian, DPR Live and DPR Ian performing for AAPI month - day two of the event has already sold out in anticipation. We’ve compiled a list of artists who’ve caught our attention this year whether they went viral or released a new EP, we got you covered.

Warren Hue

An indonesian rapper that went from soundcloud in 2018 to stadium performances today. Warren Hue released his album “BOY OF THE YEAR” in 2022, with one of our favorite tracks “IN MY BAG (with tobi lou)" which is featured on 88Rising’s official NYC Head in the Clouds playlist. He also appeared on Rich Brian’s popular track “Getcho Mans.” See him at the 88Rising stage 4:35-5:05 pm on Saturday 5/20.

Hojean

Known for always looking cozy in his hoodies on stage, indie R&B artist Hojean hits the stage at Forest Hills Stadium this weekend. You’ve probably heard the track “Over 85”, a mellow and comforting sound, with 24 million streams on Spotify or his album “Swing” which was released in 2022 highlighting a soft favorite “Hold Me”. You can catch Hojean at the Honda Double Happiness Stage 6:05-6:35 pm on Saturday 5/20.

Veegee

23-year old Chinese singer Veegee is gracing the stage after releasing her 2022 album “Hit the Road'' featuring soft pop tracks like “Baby’s Couch”. Her sound is soulful and powerful, and her songwriting is an anthem for Gen Z. Stop by and listen to her at the Honda Double Happiness stage 3:45-4:15 pm on Sunday 5/21.

LØREN

Most don’t know this but Loren was a producer on G-Dragon’s 2017 track “Bullshit” and was a lyricist on a variety of Blackpink tracks in 2020. He is known to create punk pop and heavy rock music as a Korean artist with tracks like “ALL MY FRIENDS ARE TURNING BLUE” as well as “Folks'' and “Panic” from his new 2023 EP “Put Up a Fight". You can experience his performance at the 88Rising stage 3:15-3:45 pm on Sunday 5/21.

Wolftyla

Featured on League of Legend’s “THE BADDEST” track with 168 million Spotify streams, NYC native Wolftyla creates alternative R&B sounds with sprinkles of K-Pop. She just dropped her 2023 EP “Trust Fall” featuring tracks like “Happy Home” and “Trauma Bonding”. You can see her this weekend at the Honda Double Happiness Stage 2:45-3:15 pm on Sunday 5/21.
