WE WENT TO JAY PARK’S NYC WON SOJU LAUNCH PARTY

By Chris Mae

Manhattan, New York City — the 38th floor of Somewhere Nowhere and an ode to the past and future. The room is dark and dreamy, tendrils of light dripping from the high ceilings and glass bottles shine from sleek black boxes engraved with motifs. On this rainy Monday night, an exclusive list of VIP attendees and celebrities gather beneath the stars for the beginning of Jay Park’s new vision.

The Korean-American rapper-singer, and founder of record labels AOMG, H1ghr Music and More Vision, has been an influential figure in the music industry. Tonight is the last stop of the highly anticipated US launch tour of his liquor WON SOJU. The brand hopes to make a mark on a global scale with its smooth, clean taste and modern visuals.

Incredible talent attended Park’s launch including VANDYTHEPINK’s Vandy Junghoon Son and artist Jason Lee –– both released pieces in collaboration with WON SOJU earlier that week. Rapper and actor Dumbfounded performed with Jay Park at Mission Nightclub the night before and was seen taking photos with fans in the crowd at SWNW. DJ Zo played at all stops including LA, Seattle and NYC with a dynamic set including new tracks like “RSVP” by Jessi.

Attendees lined up at the customization station stacked with towers of soju to engrave a set of signed bottles paired with cocktail glasses to take home. Miniature soju bottle candies were a crowd favorite alongside cupcakes and ring pops. On the floor above, a pool had giant floating letters spelling out WON SOJU as the reflection of the Empire State building hit the water. The tour events were was all produced by Hurricane Han Inc.

The cocktail menu included familiar flavors like Fresh Yuzu, Citrus Peach, Tropical Melon, Mango Lime and Cucumber Mint - mixed with the star of the night, Won Soju. Many were surprised with the lightness of the soju and opted to drink it neat.

Park ended the night by performing his iconic tracks “MOMMAE” and “SOJU”, jumping into the crowd at one point. In Dumbfounded’s podcast earlier this week, Park mentioned he was satisfied with his music career.

He now strives to focus on making WON SOJU a legacy.
