Overlooking the New York City skyline, DPR Artic transformed a dimly lit swanky midtown bar into a hypnotic space rave. Packed with elements of tech house, breakbeat and UK garage, the Seoul-based DJ and producer put on a show to remember. Patrons were one with the music and grooved along to his retro futuristic beats.
The invite only “Tissue Box '' event was presented by Hey Kohai, an international artist promotion company and Meltworldwide, a music event host collective, last night at the Virgin Hotel. The show was opened by Kazi who hyped up the crowd with pop beats. Arctic took over the set donning a black Cav Empt graphic tee paired with silver hardware, sporting a wolf cut. He immersed the crowd with experimental tech-house sounds, rhythmic and unexpected beat drops. He has been a DJ under his moniker Arctic since 2018, performing at numerous clubs and venues in Korea and later internationally. Right now, Artic is a producer and DJ under Dream Perfect Regime (DPR), a multi-genre music and video group based in Seoul.
His set last night started off with notes of hip hop and R&B samples and diffused into an electric retro funk video game-like atmosphere. The audience were in-sync with Arctic throughout the set—bouncing, head banging and hyping him up.
