GOVERNOR’S BALL 2023: 5 ARTISTS TO LOOK OUT FOR

New York City’s biggest music festival, the annual Governors Ball will be held in Flushing Meadows Corona Park from June 9 - 11. Lizzo, Odesza and Kendrick Lamar are headlining the three-day festival. The fête also features many big names like Lil Nas X, Kim Petras, Rina Sawayami, Metro Boomin, Ice Spice and more. As well as international artists like Aespa, Tems and Koffee. If you’re making your way up to Gov Ball this year, here are some acts not to miss:



SYD

Los Angeles based artist SYD has collaborated with top artists like Kehlani, Daniel Caesar and Tyler the Creator featuring her hypnotic vocals. The multi-faceted artist has been with Odd Future since the beginning as a DJ and rapidly learned the ins and outs of creating dynamic music, breaking out as a solo artist and shaking the world. Listen to “Ce Soir,” “Body” and “Out Loud.” You can see her at the Bacardi stage from 2:30 - 3:15 pm on saturday.


Tai Verdes

With catchy melodies and lyrics that tell relatable stories, Tai Verdes makes groovy and upbeat pop and R&B tunes. The California native singer-songwriter successfully leveraged social media to promote his music— signed to a record label– and is on the rise. Listen to “how deep?,” “Let’s go to Hell,” and “FEELING THIS BAD NEVER FELT SO GREAT” to get a taste of his funky sounds. Catch him at the Go Puff stage from 4:15 - 5 pm on friday.


Sabrina Claudio

Get lost in Sabrina Claudio’s smooth and sultry vocals at the Bacardi stage from 4:00 - 4:45 pm on Sunday. The R&B songstress started off her career posting songs on SoundCloud and later went on to release her critically acclaimed debut EP “Confidently Lost” in 2017 which established her as an artist. Listen to “Frozen,” “Moan,” and “Unravel Me” for a taste of her dreamy, sensual and soulful sounds.


Remi Wolf

You may recognize her name from your phone screen in 2020 when her song “Photo ID” with Dominic Fike went viral online or her colorful personality on social media. Remi has a bright, feel-good sound that always has us dancing around our bedroom. Her music has complex layers giving a fresh take on your typical pop music, see her at the Bacardi stage from 5:45 - 6:45 pm on friday.


070 Shake

“A little context if you care to listen” — singer and rapper 070 Shake has been very much known on “Escapism.”, a collaboration with Raye this year. Her sound is light and pronounced, not the usual rap we’re used to hearing and it gives a feeling of floating especially in tracks like “Guilty Conscience” that 070 Shake released in 2020. You can see her at the Bacard stage from 4:00 - 4:45 pm on friday.
